I wasn’t planning on another pair of mitts this soon, but my husband saw mine and wanted a pair of his own. We did a stash dive and he picked out the yarn he wanted. This is also my 100th started project in Ravelry!!!!
Summary
-
I’m knitting these with a single yarn, no stripes.
-
Knit using 2 circulars.
-
Cast on with German Twisted Cast On.
-
Changed the order of the thumb gusset increases. I did: K to M, Slip Marker, M1L, K to M, M1R, SM, K to end. In case there is some confusion as to which increase is right or left, see the twist collective Make 1 Left or Right page.
-
Cast off using US 2.5 (3.0 mm) needles.
Journal
2012-11-05: Cast on first mitt and complete knitting of arm.
2012-11-06: Complete thumb gusset and hand on left mitt. Bound off fingers. Holding off the thumb for now. Cast on right mitt and complete cuff.
2012-11-07: completed second mitt. Unfortunately I used a US 1 needle. Ouch! I’ve got to start another one using the right needle size.
2012-11-08: Started second mitt on correct size needles. Completed mitt and wove in ends.
Errata
-
There is an error in the gusset setup round. The pattern calls for a K1L. I believe the intent of the pattern is a M1L.
-
Small error in the thumb gusset section of the pattern: The pattern reads, “Continue knitting for 1.5 inches, or 1/2 inches to desired length”. It should read, “Continue knitting for 1.5 inches or 1/2 inch less than desired length”.
-
There is also an error in the thumb. The thumb has 25 stitches. The pattern calls for a pick up of 2 stitches for a total of 27 stitches. There are no additional increases or pickups. The pattern calls for finishing the thumb in a 1x1 rib which requires an even number of stitches.
