eBook : 6 patterns

Fabric that changes from rounded shells to rippled sand, from smooth terrain to bumpy zigzags, from open arches to solid stone. These are the blended landscapes of our knitting adventure, created by using familiar stitches in new ways. The six designs in this book combine the technique of double knitting with stockinette, garter and lace to create knitted pieces full of texture and pattern. There are two shawls, two scarves, a cowl and a vest. So join me in exploring these wonderful knits and take your knitting in a new direction.

Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
Omnia, meaning “all things”, has elements from all the Blended Landscapes designs, elements that combine double knitting with reversed stockinette and lace. There are straight columns of ruching, clean edges that are reversible, and shifting columns of spreading triangles that turn into lace.
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
Ripples of stockinette and double knitting shape this reversible shawl. Lace panels at the sides curve out slightly, almost like a sleeve. The picot edges at top, bottom and fronts are knitted as you go.
Knitting: Scarf
Layers of curves, like overlapping waves, travel the length of this scarf. The ripple edge gives way to lines of stitches that converge at the top in a series of shells. The ripple edge is worked sideways & attached as you go.
Knitting: Vest
Columns of gentle ruching are set off by curved fronts, all created by combining double knitting with stockinette and garter.
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
Graceful arches form the foundation of this shawl, with eyelet tiers above and airy lace below. Worked sideways, the scalloped arches are shaped with double knitting. The lace edging and the body are also worked sideways & attached as you go.
Knitting: Scarf
Lacy vines zigzag the length of this reversible scarf.
Knitting: Cowl
Slipped stitches, like gulls wings, line up across a background of stockinette. Double knitting shapes this cowl knitted side to side. Picots embellish the lower edge and are worked as you go.
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
A study in contrasts, this colorful wrap is knit from a silky fingering yarn and a worsted merino yarn in the same colorway. Wrap is 15” long and 45” wide. Knitters should be familiar with picking up stitches and yarnovers.
Knitting: Scarf
Diagonal stripes travel the length of this reversible scarf. On one side, the diagonals show up clearly in shifting lines of stitches. Turn it over & the shift is more subtle, formed by the floats of slipped stitches. Double knitting at the sides makes an edge that lays flat. Knit this scarf up in bright flower colors, to remind us that spr...
Knitting: Scarf
A new adventure in knitting! Combine double knitting and regular knitting to create unique textures and shaping. Both pieces are reversible, making them easy to wear. Scarf is made up of staggered ruffles that can be gathered or left straight. Cowl has textured lace pattern with double knit shaping around the neck.
Knitting: Mittens
This is a toddler-sized version of the fliptop mittens—the mittens were made to fit a 2-year old. Since they are 2” shorter than the child size, the bubble wrap stitch is not used. You need to have the Fliptop Mitten pattern to have instructions for the stitch patterns.
Knitting: Pullover
Lace drapes and picot edgings add feminine touches to this 3-way garment—leave it sleeveless, make short sleeves, add lace undersleeves.
Knitting: Cowl
Wavy stripes of lace, solid and sheer, make up this soft cowl. The solid stripe is worked in a lace stitch pattern with two yarns held together. The sheer stripe is a lace weight yarn worked by itself.
Knitting: Beanie, Toque, Scarf
Angles are created using different knitting techniques--short row triangles, seed stitch on the slant, continuous triangles, knit against garter. Scarf is 5” by 56” and hat is 22” around and 7” high. We used a yarn with subtle color shifts for the main color and added some shine with a ribbon yarn. For a different look,
Knitting: Convertible Gloves
Colorful mittens knit with 6 colors and four stitch patterns. Flip top hand is secured with buttons and can be worn closed or folded back to leave fingers free. The hand is knit in garter slip stitch which produces a dense fabric to keep your fingers warm.
Knitting: Scarf
A series of triangles make up this ruffled scarf with a mohair lace edging. Triangles are knit continuously, from stitches picked up along previous triangle. Lace edging is added last, using simple yarnover stitch. Knitters should be familiar with standard decreases, yarnovers, and picking up stitches. Scarf is 45” long.
