eBook : 6 patterns

The Klee Collection is a gathering of knitting patterns close to my heart. Although I trained as an art historian, I rarely get a chance to see even a fraction of the amazing art on offer in London. A few years ago the Tate Modern held an exhibition of Paul Klee’s work and it was like visiting an old friend. The inspiration to design my first collection came quickly and I have named each of the designs after a painting by Klee.

There is something incredibly romantic about wisteria. A herald of summer, the flowers hang in graceful profusion from vines that can live for a hundred years. I designed Wisteria Blossoms with romance in mind. This cardigan has a top-down, seamless raglan construction with pretty lace panels that begin at the centre front and back, and grow out...
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
Lakelet is a shawlette inspired by sitting on the dock at Squam Lake, watching the sun come up. The shawl begins at the corner with just a few stitches, and grows across the width of the shawlette until you finally reach a lace edging, which is worked with a small amount of contrasting yarn in a colour the shade of a cloud at sunrise.

Knitting: Fingerless Gloves
The Twilight Flowers Mitts are a pair of fingerless mitts featuring a lace panel down the back of each hand. Knit in sport-weight yarn, the mitts share the sleeve lace pattern of the Twilight Flowers pullover.
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
The Pavilion is a luxuriously-sized, rectangular wrap with garter stitch borders and details. With an innovative construction and easy to follow stitch patterns, it is designed with the knitter in mind. I wanted it to be a pleasure to knit and to make a beautiful yarn shine.
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
Desert Blooms begins with just a few stitches in one corner and grows until lace blooms along the far side of the shawl to create an asymmetric triangular shape. With an i-cord edge, a plain stockinette stitch body and an easy to follow lace pattern, this is a relaxing knit that quickly comes off the needles and will be an elegant addition to yo...
Knitting: Cowl, Beanie, Toque
The distinctive shape of the Saguaro Cactus appears in the interlocking cables in this hat and cowl pair designed to use two skeins of DK or worsted-weight yarn. The colour work and cable combination looks complicated but is easily done for a quick, satisfying knit. These patterns work well with either two solid colours or with one solid and one...
Knitting: Cardigan
Like a cyclamen in the snow, this cardigan is a herald of spring. Cyclamen is a top-down, raglan cardigan with garter-stitch trim worked in worsted- or aran-weight yarn. It is designed to be a great first cardigan for the beginner or a blank slate for more experienced knitters to alter.
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
Beetlebum is a semi-circular shawl designed to use a single skein of lace-weight yarn. With two easy-to-follow lace patterns, this shawl is a pleasure to knit--not too complicated and just interesting enough. The lace patterns form three distinct shapes that look to me like a beetle opening its wings.
Knitting: Scarf
Rhombolution is a double knit scarf inspired by Islamic tiling. It features a pattern that begins with a solid colour either side of the scarf, then moves through a series of evolving rhomboid shapes from light to dark and vice versa, before doing it all again at the other end.

Frost & Flame is a shawl designed to use two skeins of fingering-weight yarn, one solid and one variegated. The main body pattern is a simple brioche stitch intended to bring out the beauty of a variegated yarn as well as provide an interesting but rhythmic main stitch pattern. A lace pattern at the border compliments a solid contrast-colour...

Naloa is a top-down triangular shawl with streams of stacked eyelets running out from the centre into wavelets of lace in the border. Designed to be knit with 2 skeins of fingering-weight yarn, Naloa features a simple alteration of colour to bring out the beautiful flow of the lace pattern.

Antiprism is a garter-stitch shawl making use of Kettle Yarn Co.’s wonderful Ombre Set of BFL Twist yarns. The shawl is worked from side to side and features a frame of simple lace filled with short-row wedges of alternating color to show off the combination of shades. The lace border is then picked up and knit along the bottom of the finished s...
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
I was recently feeling the need to knit something substantial that would wrap around me and then some. I wanted an easy, satisfying knit; something that was interesting but easily memorised and didn’t require too much attention to the instructions and charts. This shawl is just the thing for comfort knitting: it begins with a top down gart...
Knitting: Cowl
This cowl was inspired by the impulsive purchase of a single skein of gorgeous yarn. The silvery blue color, smoothness and shine of the yarn suggested beautiful aquatic things. The scale-like pattern practically knit itself to the very last drop of yarn!
Knitting: Mittens
These are man-sized mitts based on traditional Nordic mittens with a few variations. Inspired by the space invader graffiti which has appeared all over London, this pattern incorporates the aliens into a houndstooth-esque pattern to appeal to the man who maybe a little nostalgic for the video games, or anyone who appreciates the old school graph...
Knitting: Legwarmers
Tell me if you’ve heard this one: I have a terrible habit of impulsively buying one skein of expensive yarn and then pondering its destiny for years on end. So I have decided to do something about it and get that yarn knit! I am all about using every little bit of the luxurious stuff. These Rosebud and Purl Legwarmers are a quick knit, and...
Knitting: Headband
I loved this pattern at first sight--and instantly wanted to make some small, lovely thing with it.
