Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
This delightful shawl is a pretty and quick knit, and can also be a way to use up various scraps of DK weight yarn. I have used yarn in three different colors (and different brands, but with the same thickness and fiber content) for my shawl.

These cute hats can be a good way to use up some of those remnants of DK weight yarn most knitters have around, and the resulting hats are nice and warm, thanks to being double-knitted. The hats are not reversible. The inside of the hats are striped in plain stockinette stitch.

In The Silmarillion, Telperion is described like this: “The one had leaves of dark green that beneath were as shining silver, and from each of his countless flowers a dew of silver light was ever falling, and the earth beneath was dappled with the shadows of his fluttering leaves.”

In The Silmarillion, Laurelin is described like this: “… The other bore leaves of a young green like a new-opened beech; their edges were of glittering gold. Flowers swung upon her branches in clusters of yellow flame, formed each to a glowing horn that spilled a golden rain upon the ground; and from the blossom of that tree there came forth wa...
Knitting: Scarf
Lace knitting is done two ways in this pattern! The length of the scarf is worked in double-knitting, with just a touch of simple double-knit lace to make things interesting. The ends feature a flirty ruffle done in standard lace-knitting.

This pattern is a fun little bookmark, and would be an excellent way for someone who has tried double-knitting and wants to get their toes wet with double-knitted lace. It is also a good way to use up some of those inevitable leftovers of yarn from other projects.

I really enjoy Neil Sandman’s great Sandman epic, and have always been intrigued by Oneiros’ (that is, Dream’s) realm, where all human imaginings are represented. This scarf is a small homage to imagination itself. And to Dream, despite him being rather a grumpy sort of character.

Coirë was the Quenya name of the last season of the year in the Reckoning of Rivendell. It lasted from February 11 to April 5. The Sindarin word for the season was Echuir. Both words mean “stirring”.

Tuilë was the first season of the year in the Reckoning of Rivendell in the Tolkien legendarium. (Yes, I’m a Tolkien nut!) The season lasted from April 8 to May 31. The word is the Quenya word for Spring, the Sindarin name was Ethuil. The elegant buds of this wrap/scarf is certainly something that is appropriate for the season – and the jagged ...

Winter in all its stern glory was the inspiration of this scarf. A crystalline lace panel flows down the center of the scarf, and anchors the colorwork pattern that was inspired by snowflakes and hoarfrost. The double-knitted scarf is warm and cosy, and will ward off the season’s chill with ease.

The autumn has most definitely settled in. Grass, bushes and trees are changing from summer’s green to the season’s vivid colors, and some of the leaves are already slipping off the branches, drifting gently on the wind. The year is turning towards winter, and soon enough the blazing shades will turn to sere yellow and brown, and wintry greys a...
