Hello - Welcome to Woollen Knots (formerly Thistle Glen Designs.) My name is Ann and I live in Belfast, N Ireland with my husband, son and daughter.

I returned to knitting in 2002 and during a period of prolonged illness, I found great comfort in the clicking of the needles! It was during that time that I taught myself many new skills and found the wonderful online knitting community.

After knitting many, many socks, I decide to make up my own design, with no intention of publishing it, but the encouragement of others in this community lead me to do just that. Then it was just about gaining some “pocket money” to help me sustain my love of beautiful yarns. Now, in 2022, I find myself taking a huge leap into designing and making full time. I love the process of taking a skein of yarn and turning it into a new design and to be able to share that with you!

I love to design accessories that are interesting to knit but also accessible to any knitter. I think my greatest love is designing the Christmas Stockings, the thought that these timeless pieces will hang in someone’s home for years to come and become part of their family story fills me with great joy. .
