My local knitting group and I knits these blankets for charity. Often we receive donated squares of differing brands and weights. This way of joining can help smooth out any puckering of different tension. We use 8ply yarn in Australia (DK in USA) so you may need to reduce your stitches if using American worsted yarn.

This pattern is knit diagonally which is fairly easy and uses 7 small balls - great for stash busting!
