Crochet: Baby Blanket
This was originally designed as a part of a 24 hour design challenge on my Facebook group. I wanted to create something that felt really autumnal and makes me think of my personal favourite season of the year. I love the changes that happen and I love the vibrancy of the tree leaves changing and flying to the ground in the wind.

Back at the very start of 2020 there were many things going on in my personal life and I had a lot of emotions that I needed to get out. After watching a very popular superhero film I found the perfect scene to inspire me and to help me release everything I felt.

In 2020 I started to design a humungous coral reef blanket and fell in love with the idea of a shoal of fish making the image of a ray. While the large blanket was put on hold for various reasons, I really wanted to recreate the blanket as a baby blanket with the ray being the central focus of the design. To me, a coral reef is bright and colou...

I created the Dreaming of Collection of baby blankets, inspired by a Meteorologist’s Dream. Seven baby blankets: one baby blanket created for each individual weather pattern that was included in the original blanket.

This blanket was a challenge I set for myself, to create and write a pattern in 24 hours as a gift to my wonderfully supportive Facebook Group. I asked the group members what they would like to see on a blanket and one reply caught my eye: Heidi McCartney, wanted mountain goats on a rock face or the side of the Rockies, during a late sunset wit...

I originally made a variation on this blanket for my friends’ first child. I wanted to combine their love of their dogs with their future love of their baby. This blanket is adaptable enough to work for all genders and will be perfect for your dog loving friends.

A few years ago there was a big craze for Zentangle style doodles and sketches. I enjoyed this a lot and made so many birthday cards and random artwork. It was the best outlet for my creativity at the time and one of my favourite pieces had a sweet little hummingbird fluttering around the rest of my design.

Given that my pen name is Silverarcheress, I think it’s only right that I do a design that is purely around arrows! This is a very simple pattern that can be scaled up and down for whatever project you desire with arrows flying from left and right in a continuous stream. It gives a fun visual effect and tricks your eyes into not being able to f...

Fox in the Woods baby blanket is in the style of Native American Imagery. As we go through each section, I will explain the symbolism that is represented there, although symbols will change from tribe to tribe and will be different when combined with others. The information I will give is the most basic interpretations. As a disclaimer from the...

This shawl will appear to change colours, to grow and shrink, depending on the angle the pattern is viewed from at any moment of time. As you walk around the person wearing the shawl it subtly shifts revealing and hiding the secondary colour while the dominant colour remains ever present. The colour choices you make have a massive influence on ...

I originally made the Sunset Turtle as a stash buster baby blanket. This became a CAL on my facebook group and due to popular demand, this is the full size version of the blanket - Sunrise Turtle Blanket, with a family of turtles swimming into the horizon.

Welcome to this Twisted Heart pattern. I wanted to make a pretty and bright baby blanket using lots of colours and textures. I came across many variations of this style of blanket and have worked to create these cute and vibrant hearts. The blanket has a lovely feel and with each stitch being clearly defined. I hope you enjoy working on these b...

I originally designed this blanket for a friend who loves to indulge in a glass of wine but I decided that was not an appropriate thing to add to a baby blanket. The ideal loophole was wine in its natural state – grapes!

This blanket was run as a free CAL and the parts could be found in my Facebook group. The CAL is now complete and the original pattern is still available in the group for free.
