Nearly an e-book in a single pattern; !many variations in several sizes.

lnspired by traditional gansey motifs of fishermens sweaters that I have seen, simplified into a variety of easy-to-complex patterns using only knit & purl stitches, and options of easy cables . Written with sport and worsted weight yarns in mind, but applies to any yarn weight up to Aran weight. Each pattern includes three charts to choose from or create your own variation!
Knit in the round. Motifs are quickly memorized, and are thoroughly pleasant to work, evoking visions from a bygone era of strong courageous fishermen in their striking traditional ganseys.

Yardage: 1 ball of Ultra Alpaca (or 2 balls Ultra Alpaca Light) , works one neck gansey approx 4 to 6 repeats in round, and 4 to 5 repeats vertically, for approx 11” tall. Note: 7 repeat size will not yield more than 4 vertical repeats, so have more than 100g on hand if you would like to make the largest size with more than 4 vertical repeats.

Most Recent Update: Dec 24, 2016 updated to include 2 patterns in one download. If you are working from a pattern dated earlier than this date, you are working from an outdated pattern.

Also, the female counterpart “Fishwives Lace Shoal”
