The shawl was designed as a baby blanket and because of the slightly ruffled outer edge when you wrap baby in it you get a beautiful ring of acorns and leaves around the baby’s face. It also makes the shawl a nice cape-let for an adult.
This pattern matches the Little Acorns Sweater. There are two options for the edging. One is basically working the center pattern one more time though and then using an I-cord cast off or a simple 6st garter stitch edge. The second more challenging edging is the same vintage lace pattern that is on the bottom of the sweater.
