The name for this sweater comes from that old saying,
“From Little Acorns Come Mighty Oaks.” The sweater is like a blessing or prayer for a special little one. There is also the Little Acorns Bonnet, Acorn Pixie Socks and Oak Tree Shawl and now a square baby blanket to match.
Also available the Acorn Pixie Sweater. A simpler to knit and unisex sweater, with a pixie hood. The hood could also be added to this sweater.
A row counter is a must for following the pattern, if you don’t use one it is very easy to get lost in the lace pattern.
This is a pattern for advanced knitters, not for beginners lace pattern.
The lace pattern along the bottom is Leaf and Acorn Lace The directions in the pattern are written (no chart).
There is a chart for the lace along the bottom here, but there is no chart for the acorns on the sleeve. The orange is the original 6 months size in sport weight yarn on a 4mm needle.I used 2 50g balls.
The New Born size sweater is made with sock yarn (fingering weight) on a 3.5mm needle. It also just needs 2 50g balls or 1 100g ball of yarn. All gauges are in the pattern PDF.
