Pinwheel is knit in Daisy Stitch: an easy to memorize stitch pattern which creates a beautiful textured fabric. Worked with a bulky yarn this hat is a very quick project. The crown shaping is integrated into the stitch pattern.


Gauge
14 sts and 19 rounds = 10x10 cm/4”x4” in Daisy Stitch Pattern knit in the round with needle A after blocking
(Base gauge: 12 sts and 19 rounds = 10x10 cm/4”x4” in Stockinette Stitch knit in the round with needle A after blocking)
Obtaining the correct gauge is not crucial, but any differences will affect the size of the finished hat.

Finished Measurements
57 cm / 22½” circumference at widest point, 22.5 cm / 8¾” height. Comfortably fit average adult head sizes (20-23”)
The sample is a size Adult S, shown on a 55 cm / 21½ inches head.

Sample made with Malabrigo Yarn Mecha (100% merino, 119 m/130 y per skein) in colourway Pearl Ten.

Needles
· needle A: 80 cm/32” circular needle or 40 cm/16” circular needle and double pointed needles (dpns) in size 8.0 mm/ US 11 (or size to obtain gauge)
· needle B: 80 cm/32” circular needle or 40 cm/16” circular needle and double pointed needles (dpns) in size 7 mm (or you can use a 6.5 mm / US 10½) or one size smaller than needle A for the Ribbing
· needle C: 80 cm/32” circular needle or 40 cm/16” circular needle and double pointed needles (dpns) in size 6.0 mm/ US 10 or one size smaller than needle B for the Tubular Cast On (optional)

40 cm/16” circular needles and dpns are optional if you prefer the Magic Loop Method for working small circumferences in the round.
