Felted (in this case, technically, it’s fulled) wool is a great fabric for protecting your electronics. It cushions vibration, is highly heat-, cold- and water-resistant, and will keep its shape and appearance much longer than your electronics keep their usefulness.

I first created this pattern in 2008 for a 17” MacBook Pro. That pattern is still available for free on my blog. However, since the MacBooks have remarkably different dimensions these days, and iPads weren’t even invented yet, I thought it was time to update this pattern.

There are two versions of this pattern. One is sized specifically for the 13” MacBook (Air or Pro). This is the striped envelope shown in the pictures, complete with an old-fashioned sandwich bag closure. The second version is designed for an iPad, in the style of an inter-office mail envelope. Feel free to mix and match style and closure--they are both simple enough that you can customize as you like!
