Knitting: Fingerless Gloves, Gloves
These traditional Fair Isle gloves are named in memory of my Granny who left within her knitting bag a pair of Fair Isle gloves which had been knit but not finished as ends need woven in and they need to be washed and blocked or as we say in Shetland, dressed. Granny was named Granny Lerwick by my sons to distinguish her from their other grandm...

Knitting: Fingerless Gloves, Gloves
I live in Shetland and have had the chance to try out this new brand of Shetland wool from our islands which I was very tempted to purchase as soon as I saw the lovely colours! I find gloves a nice and easy accessory to knit after initially struggling to knit them. The fingers can be tricky if you are inexperienced and with this pattern you can...

These gloves are a traditional Shetland glove design knitted with Shetland 4ply wool in the round on double pointed needles.
Knitting: Mittens
Aimee’s Mitten’s named after my niece.

Kate Davies Designs Buachaille 100% wool used in three colours -
Knitting: Fingerless Gloves
I have used Kate Davies Buachaille wool in Highland Coo and Furze. Each skein weighs 50g and I have enough leftover from each colour to now make up a Fair Isle headband to match these gloves.
Knitting: Gloves
This is my second Fair Isle glove pattern which uses the traditional method of ‘knitting in the round’ with double pointed needles, using two colours on Fair Isle pattern rows.
Knitting: Beanie, Toque, Beret, Tam
This pattern is of a traditional Fair Isle beret or tam shape which when knitted can be blocked on a dinner plate; alternatively you can have a hat more beanie shaped if you block it on a pasta bowl.
Knitting: Fingerless Gloves
These are a pair of mitts made with Shetland wool. The wool used is thicker than what I usually knit Fair Isle in so this means they knit up quickly and could be completed over a weekend.
Knitting: Gloves
I have used three different shades of Lettlopi Icelandic wool - each ball was 50g. I have added in a second size so as they can be for woman’s large or small/medium man’s hand. If making the larger gloves you will need to have at least 70g of main colour.
Knitting: Beanie, Toque
This is a hat made using 100% pure Shetland wool. I have made mine with Jamieson and Smith Supreme jumper weight wool (4 ply) but you can use any of the Shetland jumper weight wools for this pattern, as you may like to use a different colour palette. Shetland Supreme jumper weight is undyed natural coloured wool from the Shetland sheep.
Knitting: Gloves
A traditional Fair Isle ‘oxo’ pattern made using Shetland wool. Five colours are used in the gloves where I use blues, greys and white and the details of these shades are within the pattern. I have charted these gloves with all of the colours. I have included a chart which is for use when you wish to devise your own colour scheme, you can see f...
