The Ma Chérie pattern set will warm your ears, neck and hands in the winter months. The cable pattern used is the classical XOX cable, also called hugs and kisses: Hence the name Ma Chérie, which is French for My Darling. All the items are relatively quick knits, as the yarn used is a worsted weight. The cable pattern with the integrated decreases will still keep the knitting interesting.

Knitting: Ankle Sock
The Drunken Sailor Socks were first written in Finnish as a member pattern for the Finnish knitter’s association that publishes the webzine Ulla. Hence the Finnish version is only available on the Ulla member page. The English version is available in my Ravelry store.
Knitting: Cowl
I have been fascinated by the large cowls or tubular scarves everybody suddenly started wearing a couple of years ago. How do they work? Won’t the purl side show? It seemed to me most of the commercially available cowls were just scarves with their ends sewn together and with quite boring stitch patterns, so I started playing with stitches of m...
Knitting: Mittens
The Ma Chérie mittens are a part of the Ma Chérie pattern set. They will warm your hands nicely in the winter months. The cable pattern used is the classical XOX cable, also called hugs and kisses: Hence the name Ma Chérie, which is French for My Darling. They are a relatively quick knit, as the yarn used is a worsted weight. The cable pattern ...

Knitting: Cowl
A quick neckwarmer for my son. The name means “Joel’s Neckwarmer”. A very quick and simple knit.
Knitting: Mid-calf Socks
Tiny dragonflies stretch their wings in the ribbing of these socks. The slipped strands make this an interesting pattern for a semi-solid or subtly variegated yarn. The socks are worked from the toe up using a short-row toe, heel flap and French heel. With sizing for three foot widths and an adjustable length of the foot, you can easily work so...
Knitting: Ankle Sock
The patterned stitch sprinkled across the surface of the knit fabric lookss like tiny butterflies: hence the name Winged Migration. To make the most of the yarn, I divided the skein and worked the pattern toe up.
Knitting: Beret, Tam
A sock weight wool beret is perfect for spring or fall. The Timotei Beret features a very simple lace pattern that spirals up toward the top of the hat. Even though it’s pictured in a solid colour, the pattern also works beautifully in semisolids or even slightly variegated yarns.
Knitting: Beret, Tam
A light and lacy beret to shield you from the summer sun or warm you a bit on cool days. The lace motif reminded me of a butterfly’s wings, so I named the hat after the Apollo butterfly. Parnassius Apollo is an easy introduction to every round lace patterning, as the hat is worked in the round and there are no purl rounds.
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
Some years back I was gifted a huge skein of beautiful, white Estonian handspun laceweight wool. I knew that yarn had to become a heirloom shawl, but the patterns I saw never seemed quite right. Finally, I decided to make the pattern myself. Springtime Swirl was first published as a mystery knitalong pattern in April/May 2009. Now the pattern i...
Knitting: Pullover
A simple stockinette stitch raglan sweater for children is spiced up by reverse stockinette salamanders in purl stitches crawling sneakily across front and back: you might not notice them at first (they were pretty much impossible to photograph on a blocked garment), but they are there. You can, of course, use the salamander as an intarsia moti...
Knitting: Beret, Tam
The Bayret is a beret featuring traditional Bavarian twisted stitch motifs. It’s knit out of two skeins of sock weight yarn, an amount that you are likely to have in your stash anyway since it’s just about what you’d need for a pair of socks. Top decreases are incorporated in the pattern.
Knitting: Mid-calf Socks
I’m one of those sock knitters who bend and break needles and make socks as stiff as shoes. I know, however, that not everyone makes socks like this. So, this pattern comes in two sizes: one for loose knitters and one for tight knitters. The cabled rib lends some stretch, and foot size is adjustable, so both versions should fit different sizes....
Knitting: Pullover
Being large and curvy, I often don’t fit well into ready-made patterns and sizings. I designed this tunic for myself to fit exactly as I wanted. Cables are lovely, and more interesting to work than plain stockinette, but sadly they add more bulk to my already bulky frame. Because of that, the cables are placed as small details on the simple tun...
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
The midnight sun, a long sunset that slowly turns into sunrise, with the rays of the sun sifting through birch leaves. Those are my inspiration for this shawl design.
Knitting: Cowl
A cowl is an ideal project for small amounts of luxury yarn, or perhaps for handspun, as even wimple/smoke ring length requires no more than about 330 meters of yarn.
Knitting: Beanie, Toque
A summer hat for a child. Available in Finnish in the online magazine Ulla, issue 2/08. The Ravelry download file is in English.
Knitting: Sleeveless Top
White Nights Camisole is a simple top knit in a fine wool and silk blend. Despite the understated look, there should be enough to keep the knitting from becoming boring. The leaf lace pattern used in lace panels is a variation of the more familiar version, and has yarnovers and decreases on every round/row. The lace panels run up the sides, div...
