Knitting: Fingerless Gloves
These gloves are knit in the round and the pattern is written for Magic Loop, but you can also use two circulars or double point needles if you prefer. Right and left gloves are knit the same. Be sure to choose a yarn with plenty of stretch.
Knitting: Mittens
I wanted a pair of mittens that would allow me to text easily without freezing my thumbs off. I couldn’t find a pattern that I really liked, so I made up my own.
Knitting: Beanie, Toque
The alternating purl and knit sections of this hat are perfect for showing off a self-striping yarn like Knit Picks Chroma or Noro Kureyon, and with its rapid decreases it really hugs the top of your head. It knits up quickly and is toasty warm, and best of all it never fails to get compliments. The fabric created by this pattern is inherently ...
Knitting: Mid-calf Socks
This pattern is a variation of my “Good Watermelon Socks” pattern; I like how that sock works up, but I wanted a pair of ribbed socks for a snugger fit. I chose to do an afterthought heel because it fits great, can be easily replaced in the event of wear, and best of all it doesn’t disrupt the cool striping pattern like a heel flap does.
Knitting: Beanie, Toque
I love this yarn and wanted the watermelon patterning to be the focal point of this hat. I thought about it for a while and finally settled on a simple stockinette beanie with an I-cord topper. As I was knitting, I found myself singing a song called “Good Watermelon” by Mike Evin (http://mikeevin.com/). And so the Good Watermelon Baby Hat was b...
Knitting: Mid-calf Socks
I really love this yarn and I wanted my socks to just scream “WATERMELON!” so I designed this simple, toe-up sock in stockinette stitch. I chose to do an afterthought heel because it fits great, can be easily replaced in the event of wear, and best of all it doesn’t disrupt the cool striping pattern like a heel flap does. As I was knitting, I f...
Knitting: Ankle Sock
I knit these socks with 4 DPNs (5 DPNs when I got to the toe), but you can easily convert the pattern to magic loop, or 2 circulars, or 5 DPNs, or two at a time, or whatever other sock-knitting technique you prefer. Measurements and yardage are given for ladies size 10-11 medium-width ankle socks, but you can adjust the size to fit any foot by ...
Knitting: Baby Blanket
This pattern is worked completely in garter stitch and, practically speaking, could be knit with any type of yarn and any size needles as long as there is a BIG difference in needle size -- the stripes knit on the small needles serve to draw in the knitting done on the larger needles, giving it a nice ruffled effect and scalloped edge with near...
