Knitting: Cowl
The cowl is worked in the round. The stitch pattern spirals around, so that its ending / beginning shifts to the left each round.
Knitting: Scarf, Cowl
This cowl or scarf is worked in an alpaca rich, hand-dyed yarn in a stitch pattern that is reversible, being subtly different each side. You can wear it as a longer scarf or a shorter cowl. Work to a length that suits you for a small cowl.

Lovely soft alpaca is used for this garment. It is designed for hand-dyed or painted yarns, but it would look as well using undyed yarns, or those dyed a solid colour.

Cowl in three sizes from the one pattern, the sizes being created by using different weight yarns. Yarns are super bulky, bulky and DK, all worked on larger sized needles from what would normally be used for the yarn.

Triangular shawl with a moss/seed stitch pattern, 108 cm/42.5 inches wide x 36 cm/14 inches deep.
Knitting: Cowl
Lace sampler cowl in Aran weight yarn. Worked in the round. Make it in one colour, or be inventive with several if you have a stash! To make it similar to the one pictured, you’ll need approximately 135m/148yd of main colour, and 67m/74yd of contrast colour. The pictured garment is in 100% wool, but you could also try it in soft cotton.
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
Triangular kerchief or shawl with garter stitch edging and garter stitch stripe pattern. If you can make it without joining the yarn, or with invisible joins, it is reversible. This pattern would suit hand-spun yarns.
Knitting: Scarf
Double sided mini shawl with garter stitch borders. It has been designed for undyed yarns, specifically alpaca, but is also suitable for hand-spun yarns. You will need a shawl pin or brooch with a wide fastener.
Knitting: Cardigan
Child’s sleeveless cardigan, worked from the top down. It has a cable detail down the back, and a simple textured pattern forms the lower border.
