Highland Home Vest echoes memories of my family history with cables and braids. Conversation growing up in my childhood home was always rich with stories. I treasure and share those generational tales, and love the current updates of a close-knit family, supportive and welcoming of new paths and circles.

March in New England ~ so close to Spring, but I often find myself reaching for a light scarf and pop of color! Though, I designed this scarf with Spring on my mind, it’s perfectly modifiable for any season with directions for Fingering, DK, Worsted, or Bulky weight yarn.

While celebrating three generations of family time at a reunion with lots of down time, conversation with my niece happened upon sweater styles.

As a kid, I so enjoyed my family’s annual camping trips in Ossipee, NH. Packed dirt pine paths led to easy meet ups with family friends for hikes. Hearth and Vine Mittens are a compliment to the Hearth and Vine Hat. Simple twists and cables provide the illusion of a complicated design. Worked with Magic Loop technique ~ perfect project for working close to the hearth or on the road.

When the temperature turns a bit cooler, I’m always reaching for extra layers of warmth ~ inside and outside! Keep snuggly warm with this cowl and fingerless mitts set, fine companions to the Pack Monadnock hat.

Hiking, referred to as “exploring nature’s playground” by my husband, became a regular family activity dating back to our early days as a couple. This hat design, sized for all outdoor adventure-goers (Baby, Toddler, Child, Teen-Adult, Adult), works well as an introduction to hat knitting.

During a recent kayak paddle, I found myself marveling at the ease with which trees change, and mirror their reflection on the water. Symatrees Cowl is designed with symmetrical right and left cables and reminds me of the beautiful symmetries nature offers.

This wrap design idea spontaneously arrived in my brain, as soon as I saw a rainbow of sparkly colored yarns, and recalled a collection of rainbow of textured ribbons my Dad brought home for me as a small child. Maybe that gift really contributed to my love of color and texture? Who knows, but I really enjoyed my collection of rainbow ribbons.

Growing up, I loved staying at Grampy’s home on Squam Lake…time together, moments spent daydreaming and letting my imagination run free, learning to knit, all while listening to the gentle waves lap the shoreline.

Inspiration for Fellsmere Cowl originated from memories of taking walks with my Mom as a child to Fellsmere Pond, near our home.
