The Forest of First Socks began with a problem. I had some hand-dyed yarn that was striping, and wanted to disrupt this so it wasn’t so obvious. After considerable research and mulling, I came up with this easy slip stitch pattern that blends the rows a little, and adds an interesting texture reminiscent of fir trees in a forest.
Knitting: Ankle Sock
Sometimes you want a little bit of texture in your socks, but nothing too challenging in terms of attention. And if you’re like me, you always prefer knit stitches to purls. The Trellis socks use easy-to-knit mini mock ‘cables’ to form a delicate pattern that’s easy to memorise and knit – no fiddly purl stitches!

Knitting: Mid-calf Socks
The Instant Gratification socks came about from a happy accident. Having ordered a ball of what I assumed was 4-ply/fingering sock yarn, I found it was actually aran (worsted) weight. Undaunted, I cast on a pair of socks and was amazed – and delighted – to find they worked up in a jiffy, and felt very comfortable to boot. Plus the thick yarn me...
