The pattern was inspired by the fabulous views of Bennachie we saw from our home (see last picture) and named for a question the children asked, “are they hills or mountains?”

The Shaldon Cowl is a chunky textured cowl that looks far more complicated than it really is. If you can cast on, knit, purl, work in the round and cast off then you can make this cowl.

I love cowls and cables and to me they are made for each other so here is another cabled cowl pattern that I hope you will enjoy knitting.

All around our old home are fields that were often planted with wheat. We would watch, as the seasons changed, the colours go from green to gold. As the wind blew the wheat rippled like waves across an ocean. Nature’s ever changing art was and always will be a wonder and delight.
Knitting: Cowl
This is the aran version of the Wheat Fields Cowl.

I love cowls and playing around with stitches. This time I used the Left Twist stitch from a knitting dictionary dating back to the 70s or possibly the 60s. It is a fairly easy stitch that produces a lovely texture and it works with both plain and variegated yarns.
Knitting: Cowl
I love Rowan Lima and I love knitting cowls so it was an obvious choice to combine the 2 together. This is the first of two cowl patterns that uses Rowan Lima and both are simple to knit and would be ideal first knitting in the round projects.

Question: What to do when you have just one skein of luscious blue sky Worsted Cotton?
Knitting: Cowl
This pattern combines two of my knitting favourites: cables and cowls. The richly textured design of the Venice Cabled Cowl was designed to be a snug fit around the neck and face but with lots of stretch for an easy comfortable fit.
Knitting: Cowl
Many years ago I used the shadow cable stitch to make, what became, my favourite blanket. The blanket is now well past it’s best but stilled loved for the comfort it brings. This cowl pattern is a condensed version of the blanket pattern but I hope it brings you the same comfort my blanket brings to me.
Knitting: Beanie, Toque
This pattern is for a simple, chunky and cabled hat and beanie. Both the hat and beanie are knitted in the round for a seamless finish (much more comfortable to wear) and have decreases that maintain the cable pattern all the way to the crown. The fold back brim on the hat adds extra warmth for ears on cold winter days.
Knitting: Cowl
This knitting pattern is for a textured cowl in three different sizes. By using chunky yarn and simple stitches it knits up quickly. This pattern is ideal for the beginner who is looking to practice their skills or for the more advanced knitter looking for a binge watching project.
Knitting: Beanie, Toque
A simple Beanie made special by the use of Noro yarn. Using just one 50g ball of Noro Kuryon, or similar, this beanie is both quick and easy to knit.
