Cozy and perfect for snuggling into as the weather gets cooler, the Patchwork Cables Socks are the perfect mix of ventilating lace and cozy cables scattered across the knitted fabric. You may notice that there seems to be a row missing from the patterning, but that is an intentional nod towards the beauty of imperfection in handmade items. (Plu...

February always has me thinking of hearts and flowers and all things lovey dovey. So, this month’s socks feature a stitch pattern that reminds me of rose petals and are knit in a colorway named for this month’s birthstone, amethyst.

El Verano in Spanish means, “the Summer”, and these lacey shortie socks embody the season! Greenery in the garden and ripples in the pool inspired this month’s pattern. A panel of doubled leaves follows the outside of each foot while a 1/1 twisted cable creates a stretchy ribbing across the rest of the instep & the cuff.

Sometimes we just need to play with pretty yarn and make something fun. Brain Space came about because I adore vibrant, multi-colored yarn and for once I didn’t want to try and “normalize” an extravagant colorway with a more subdued semi-solid contrast. I wanted to design a shawl that was just as textural and energetic as the yarns that inspire...

Knitting: Fingerless Gloves
The Fables Fingerless Mitts begin at the wrist and progress towards the fingers, a section of the hand is worked flat then re-joined to finish. At this point the mitts will look a bit odd, but like most fairy tales & fables things aren’t quite as they seem. Stitches are picked up around the thumb opening and short-rows are worked in-pattern...

Squishy brioche stockinet fabric knit-up in The Dyeing Art’s beautiful Smashing base was the starting point for this textural cowl. The Highlighter Affair is a slouchy hat knit in 2 colors of fingering weight yarn. It uses the butterfly stitch as well as wrap & turns to create a fun texture with color pops. There are only a couple of purl rows on the brim and the rest is all knits and slipped stitches so it’s a much easier hat to make than it appears.
