This hat takes about 2-3 hours to make. This pattern has a full description of how to join-as-you-knit a finger knitted strip so that you can make a hat. There is now a video tutorial on YouTube Part 1 & Part 2 There are pictures to show how to make the strip but if you want a full description of how to finger knit you will need to download the companion pattern PDF for the No Needles Scarf. or watch this YouTube Video.
The hat is made with bulky weight yarn or two strands of worsted weight yarn. you will need two balls of yarn if you want to make the matching scarf.
The pictures of the purple hat show the hat worn inside out and the hat right way round. I actually prefer in-side-out.
The original purple hat was a little bit too tight to be truly slouchy (it’s more like a toque) I have fixed this in the Noro (orange) hat. The changes are in the newest PDF.
P.S. due to the stretchiness of the hat it also works as a photo-prop or cuddle cocoon for a baby.
P.P.S The sizes are easily adapted, the bottom pic is of a child sized hat.
