Knitting: Scarf
This scarf is knitted in a heavy laceweight / light fingering yarn, but would look equally good (if not better) knitted in a lace weight yarn. The lace is worked on odd rows, with even rows being ‘rest’ rows, worked just purl.
Knitting: Scarf
This gossamer-light but very warm scarf is the perfect project for someone new to lace knitting. It is knitted using two stands of yarn – a cobweb-weight pure wool and a lace-weight mohair. I have used Voilette from La Droguerie and Sublime Lace (extra fine merino wool) for the sample shawl, but any laceweight and fine mohair yarn would work
Knitting: Scarf
I love browsing through my stitch dictionaries and this pattern - Fern Lace - came out of my trusted (and now rather weathered) Ward Lock Guide to Knitting Stitches, which I bought back in 1984. Then, as I was browsing through my Barbara G Walker stitch dictionary I saw the same design, but this time it was called Vine Lace. Confused? Moi?
Knitting: Scarf
This scarf is knitted in a heavy laceweight (light fingering/3ply weight) and is beautifully drapey and light. It was inspired by Lisa Bruce’s Favourite Scarf Ever, (which is knitted in a sock/fingering/4ply weight yarn) and a picture of an early twentieth century cotton lace cloth I found in a knitting book my husband bought me for Christmas.
Knitting: Scarf
This scarf is knitted along its length. The ribbed effect gives the scarf body and therefore warmth as it hugs your neck. The design is equally appropriate for both men and women. It works particularly well with variegated yarns to create a lengthways stripe.
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
This shawl works well in both fingering-weight yarn and in a heavy lace weight. A stocking stitch yoke flows into a lace edging. Optional beads are incorporated into the lace and add weight along the bottom edge, creating a beautiful drape and adding glamour.
Knitting: Mid-calf Socks
Note - a top down version of this pattern will he available by the end of the year. Please PM me if you would like to be ear burned when it is released.
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
This semi-circular shawl is constructed from the top down, starting with a garter tab. A garter ridge runs along the top of the shawl and is separated from the body of the shawl with eyelet ladder created by a yarn over worked on every other row. The shawl has alternating plain and patterned panels and ends in a garter hem. Increases are placed...
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
This lace shawl is knitted from the top down, starting with a garter tab. The lace patterns it incorporates are Spider Lace, Palm Leaf Chevron and Chevron. It ends with leaf designs which can be stretched during blocking to create ‘points’. Optional beads are incorporated into the pattern.
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
The inspiration for this top-down triangular beaded lace shawl was the rosebud lace pattern. The design can be easily adapted to make whatever size shawl the knitter desires by changing the number of pattern repeats of the rosebud or the rosebud trellis charts.
Knitting: Ankle Sock
These socks are easy to knit and are a good starting point for anyone who would like to try toe-up technique for the first time. A simple Garter Rib ‘tramline’ climbs up both sides of each sock, adds interest and works well with plain, variegated and striped yarns..
