The original was knit in a yarn that has been discontinued, so I was excited to revamp the pattern in a different yarn and also one that was a bit lighter-weight and could be worn in multiple seasons and different climates too.

I used exactly 1 skein of Frog Tree Alpaca’s Chunky Alpaca yarn but other options are Cascade Baby Alpaca Chunky, Misti Alpaca Chunky, or Plymouth Baby Alpaca Grande (1 skein of any of these).

The Basics includes 3 learn-to-knit projects, all meant to be done in sequential order so that you learn a new technique in each one (you start with a basic knit scarf, then you make a rib scarf, and then there’s an infinity cowl!). Video tutorials are provided for each technique used in each pattern.

Salt Marsh Wrap is a wide, rectangle scarf/wrap and features a simple eyelet lace pattern surrounded by a garter stitch border. This scarf can be worn in multiple ways and can also be easily lengthened if you prefer (just make sure to purchase an extra skein!).

Woods Road Vest is a woman’s seamless buttoned vest that uses aran/bulky weight yarn. It is knit from the bottom-up and all in one-piece to the underarm, then fronts and back are worked separately to the shoulders. Stitches are picked up and worked in 2x2 ribbing for the button bands and armhole bands.

Wrap-Around Cowl is knit lengthwise, working back and forth in garter stitch with rows of dropped stitches. When buttoned, it becomes a versatile cowl that can be simply draped around your neck or wrapped twice around for a close fit. Buttonholes are placed while you knit, so there is no need to pick up stitches at the end.

This cozy layering piece is knit all in one piece from the top-down and features raglan construction. It features a simple silhouette and a chunky shawl collar that’s created with wrap and turn short rows (links to video tutorials included in the pattern!).

Common Ground is a top-down, seamless cardigan featuring a garter stitch yoke, lace panel waist and an optional hood for a more casual, cozy look. Originally released at the beginning of my design career in 2010, I revamped it and re-published it in 2020. It features 9 different sizes and lots of detailed instructions.

Audrey’s First Day is a raglan cardigan, knit in one piece from the top-down. Sleeves are separated at the underarm and sleeve sts are held on scrap yarn while the body is completed. Sleeves are then worked on DPNs from the underarm to the cuff. Front band ribbing is created by picking up and knitting sts along garment edge.

A great beginner sweater project, this cardigan uses worsted-weight yarn, has a top-down raglan construction and is completely seamless. The only finishing you’ll have to do is picking up stitches for the button bands. It is inspired by my toddler/child cardigan “Wonder Years”--I thought it would also make a cute woman’s cardigan too!
