Knitting: Cowl
This is a quick project that can easily be knit in a day or a weekend. Use basic lace stitches and a moving end of row to create the diagonal lace pattern. Add a band of stockinette in the middle for interest, or omit it; make it longer for an infinity cowl, or use your own creativity to make this pattern entirely yours.
Knitting: Scarf
Bias knitting creates a fabric that can be very stretchy, so this scarf has a narrow garter edge to minimize this stretchy characteristic a bit. The alternating colors technique can cause one edge to have much less give than the other, so care must be taken to prevent this from happening.
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
If you are intimidated by stranded colorwork, or your projects don’t come out satisfactorily, try mosaic knitting instead. You only use two colors of yarn, and you don’t have to worry about floats that can make your project tight and inflexible.
Knitting: Market bag (slouchy)
A great project for summer knitting. This pattern knits up fairly quickly, and is lightweight for summer knitting. Make this bag to take to the beach or pool, the farmers market, or your favorite yarn shop.
Knitting: Cowl
If you use a yarn weight other than that used in the sample, be sure to match your needle size to the yarn you use. Heavier yarn will obviously result in a larger finished product etc.
Knitting: Cowl
I used two skeins of Tristan yarn for this cowl, but had enough left over to make a second cowl with the main color and contrasting color reversed.
Knitting: Scarf
Here you have 2 patterns in one. This fun pattern can either be a warm winter scarf knit in aran to light chunky yarn, or is can be an elegant accent piece knit in a fingering or sport weight yarn.
Knitting: Scarf
NOTE: This is not an original pattern by me but a modification of the Favorite Scarf pattern also available for free from Ravelry. I made modifications to the edge stitch for a more uniform looking edge. I also included notes specific to the Tasco yarn from Online.
Knitting: Scarf
The Cashmerino Aran yarn used for the sample is buttery soft and still strong and durable. Because of the cables and lace in the pattern it is best to use a solid yarn for this scarf. Any heavy worsted or aran yarn will do otherwise.
Knitting: Scarf
This pattern is not my original design but simply my variation on a common technique done with a new yarn. It is a good beginner level technique for working with multiple yarns at one time. The results are very dramatic and look like something far more ccomplicated to make than it really is.
Knitting: Scarf
The Gates and Ladders stitch is a great lace technique but it can be a little bit intimidating. This technique incorporates a double yarn-over that can cause some confusion so be sure you are working in a quiet setting with no distractions when you are first starting this pattern. The sample scarf was knit with a fingering weight yarn, but it c...
Knitting: Cowl
The yarn used in this project was simply a dream to work with and the resulting fabric has a wonderful sheen. The basic idea for this cowl is to create one garment that can be worn different ways to accompany different outfits. The cowl is long enough to be able to double wrap around your neck, yet short enough to be worn single layer for a mor...
Knitting: Scarf
The Feather and Fan stitch is a very common technique and a great way to start learning to knit lace. As with just about all lace techniques, the stitch creates a scalloped edge. This pattern tells you to knit the scarf in one piece and add fringe to camoflauge the fact that the two ends of the scarf are not the same. If you do not like fringe,...
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
This shawl is great for summer evenings. The lace stitch used is simple and alternating it with stickinette stitch creates a dynamic striped effect. Consider incorporating a self striping yarn into the mix for even more interest.
Knitting: Scarf
This all-over lace pattern is often mistaken for crochet. The stitch is a fairly simple pattern repeat and can easily be done by anyone with basic lace knitting skills. The yarn used has a heavier drape than most since it is 100% cotton. Consider knitting this pattern in 100% silk or any viscose type yarn. This scarf was designed for summer kni...
Knitting: Scarf
I designed this scarf to use a single skein of Sugar Rush from Queensland Collection, but it can easily be used on other DK or sport weight yarns and can easily be made longer if desired. The resulting scarf is intended to be an accent scarf rather than utilitarian.
Knitting: Fingerless Gloves
Note: This pattern is an adaptation of a pattern published in Piecework in 2009. I changed the length of the pattern for something more modern, and modified the ruffled edge for something a little frillier.
