Welcome to the Beyond Vanilla Socks Part 1 collection of patterns - the idea being a series of textured sock patterns that take you one step beyond those plain vanilla socks. If you are looking for something a little more engaging than plain stockinette then these patterns will work for you.

One of my overarching goals with my design work is customisability and accessibility. In the past year I have worked on developing my Any Gauge method of designing (previous patterns I’ve published with this method are the Any Gauge Tube Cowl and The Hug Shrug) which has further built on this goal by allowing knitters the flexibility and freedom to use these patterns to knit their project with any yarn and needle combination that they would like. These Any Gauge designs provide knitters with the tools and confidence to truly create something unique and customised to them!

This is really a 2 in 1 type of pattern! there are two cable options for these socks so you can knit each sock in the pair with a different but similar cable running down the front. Hence the name, Sisters Not Twins as the socks turn out to be non identical but with the same feel.

The Yorkville Sweater is a cosy cropped pullover with a hi-lo hem giving the lower back area a little more coverage! With a slightly relaxed fit and all over textured patterning it makes a super comfy sweater. This dress is inspired by a dress that was knit for me when I was a baby by my Aunt Nahid (pronounced Nad-Heed) and as such it is very dear to my heart. I wanted to recreate a version of this dress so I could knit one in a larger size for my daughter after she had outgrown the original that I wore as a baby.

A lovely fun shawl to knit with stockinette wings and a lace panel down the centre. This is a great pattern for those new to lace knitting as you are not having to worry about doing any increases or decreases in the lace section, your stitch count in the lace panel never changes so its easy to spot any errors as you go along.

The name for this design was suggested to me by a viewer of my podcast and I love the idea behind it. Le Moelleux is French and means squishy, it is also a term used for the pastry Brioche in France as well … so Le Moelleux Shawl is quite simply The Squishy Brioche Shawl … a name that perfectly embodies the best aspects of this garment.
