This collection of 31 patterns started as my school assignment for creative writing class named “The Book”. It has been an interesting journey that started in the Spring 2013, and continued until now.

This hat is knit in the round. The body is worked in broken rib pattern. The pattern for the hat is reversible.

This hat is knit in the round. The brim is worked in 2x2 rib, the body is worked in a slipped stitch pattern, working with just one color of yarn each round. When carrying the non-working yarn up the side, twist the yarn periodically around the working yarn to prevent openings.

This hat is knit in the rounds. The brim is worked in 2x2 rib, the body is worked in a reversible textured pattern.
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
This simple rectangular wrap is knitted flat. The pattern is completely reversible. Start with 2x2 ribbing edge, work the pattern, then finish the wrap with another 2x2 ribbing edge. Optional is to slip the last stitch of each row without working it for a nicer edge.

Oriana is an adorable owl with a character. She is approximately 6.25” (16 cm tall).

This completely reversible pattern is worked with knit and purl stitches only. Pictured sample is done in Lion Brand Mandala yarn, but similar color effect could be achieved by using skeins of different colors or just one color for more monochromatic approach. The 2x2 ribbing on both ends create a nice finishing touch.

In the summer of 2012 I went with my mom and my kid to a yarn store. Of all the yarns that I saw and wanted to buy I finally picked up a single skein of fingering weight yarn named Heritage by Cascade Yarns. I had no idea what I would use the yarn for, I just liked the colors.

An instant gratification project. It takes only few hours to knit this reversible cowl, worked in super bulky yarn. The Diamond Cowl is worked in the rounds with garter stitch edge and diamond pattern ending with another garter stitch edge.

These bowls are knitted in the rounds in garter stitch with jumbo weight yarn. In just few hours you can knit up a great knitting bowl for yourself or a gift for anyone on your list.

The Cloudy Day Wrap is knit flat, from side to side. Start with ribbing pattern, continue with cables and ribbing pattern and end with ribbing patter . The color change is done by starting the first skein from the darker colors and the second skein from the opposite end, the lighter color.

These watermelon coasters and dishcloth are knitted from the center out, the increases are done every other round, in 8 places. Mark the increases with a stitch marker for easier work. Twist periodically the carrying yarn over the working yarn.

This adorable raccoon is worked in the rounds, with limbs, tail and head worked separately, and sewn on. The head is worked in intarsia in the rounds, or use the duplicate stitch method.

This oversized Grecian Poncho is worked from the bottom to the top, first in the rounds, later flat, with garter stitch at the arm opening sides. The shoulders are joined by Kitchener stitch. The stitches for the collar are picked along the neck edge and worked in 1x1 ribbing.

This bumble bee mobile is worked in the round. Each bumble bee is knitted from tail to head, wings knitted separately and sewn on. The flowers are knitted from center out, with picot bind off, the wooden ring is covered with knitted piece made of green yarn, worked in the round.

The pencil case is knitted from the top down in the round. The 3 needles bind off is used. Optional is to use grafting or Kitchener stitch instead. The fabric is sewn together and inserted inside the case. The zipper, the yarn and the fabric are all sewn together for a nice finish.

The original snake was created as my way to respond to a challenge I received a while ago. It is not an easy project.

This is a great project for self stripping sock yarn or any sport to medium weight yarn. You will need approximately one ball of yarn. Also you will need two funky looking buttons for the eyes, and a single sock (baby socks in cute pattern and complimenting colors works the best).
