Recently I discovered “Bosnian crochet”, also known as “slip stitch crochet”. If you work only slip stitches into the back loops back and forth in rows, the resulting fabric looks knitted and is very stretchy. Sounds perfect for a hat that can fit various sizes. A fold-up brim also can accommodate various heights as needed.

A friend inspired me to come up with a sneaker pattern that features a gentle “ballerina” style where the cuff sits slightly deeper at the front. It took me a while to figure out all the little details, but here you go!

The matching mittens to the socks and hat!

This slouchy hat is worked in two parts. First the band is worked in tunisian reverse stitch, then the main hat in tunisian simple stitch is added sideways using short rows to shape the crown. A button adds interest (this button is nonfunctional).

From the toe emerges a cable pattern, broadening to the whole instep. At the gusset the cable design splits up, giving way for a different stitch pattern.

Sara is the big sister of my other sock pattern “Amy Lee”. Sara is basically not written for a beginning sock knitter, as she does not explain any special techniques (magic cast on, lifted increases, wrapped stitches/short rows, loose bind of). Of course you can give her a try if you use other sources for those techniques!
