Joan Dyer Designs continues on, although we lost Joan to cancer in November. Here is her own description of her approach to knitting/designing:

Lots of music (amateur cellist, and Executive Director of Arion Chamber Music), reading, and knitting. Socks are my port-a-project, sweaters are relaxing, and lace requires my undivided attention. I’d rather experiment than rip, leading to interesting results or duds.

I always have at least one pair of socks on my needles (generally toe-up magic loop).
