The idea for “Variations on a Theme” e-book was born while I was working on another design. I was inspired by the slipped stitch pattern I was using and wondered how will it look in a shawl. However, I was not done exploring the pattern. I designed another shawl with a different construction that uses the same slipped stitch pattern and latter I added two more designs to the collection, two cowls.

“Bubblemania” is a scarf knitted in a simple slipped stitch pattern. The scarf is fast and easy project. The pattern is quite addictive. The scarf takes just one ball of 2ply lace yarn, but can also be knitted in a heavier weight yarn. The scarf can be easily turned into a cowl if desired. Enjoy!

“Sweet October” is a cowl knitted in a simple slipped stitch pattern. Two colors are used, but one color can also be used. The cowl is fast and easy project. It is a great way to use those few balls of yarn that got left over from a bigger project. Enjoy!

Coronado Island is one of my favorite places in San Diego. It was an inspiration for this design. Twists and turns of the lace pattern and sun-kissed color of the yarn remind me of the shoreline and sandy little beaches of this coastal community and most of all of the beautiful Coronado bridge.
