When I knit the Lace Twist Mitts that appeared in the Fall 2009 Knitscene magazine, I still had quite a bit of left over yarn. I thought that a matching neck warmer would be a fun coordinating accessory. Pair it with the mitts, and you have an affordable, quick-to-knit gift!

The socks are knit from the toe up with a choice of 2 sizes. There is a large lace panel (the climbing vines) running up the top of the foot and front of the leg. The back of the leg is a garter stitch ribbing that resembles a trellis for the vines to cling to. Don’t worry if you haven’t knit a toe up sock before! This pattern takes ...

The Riptide socks are knit from the cuff down. The cable pattern runs down the outside of the leg and foot in a riptide-like appearance. The pattern is written to be unisex in terms of sizing and style.

The undulating cable-like lace pattern emerging from the basket weave ribbing is reminiscent of charmed snakes rising up out of a basket.
Knitting: Mid-calf Socks
This cuff down pattern is easier than it looks! It is basically a simple knit-purl ribbing pattern that uses increases and decreases to create the block-like leg pattern. While the sample sock is shown in a solid color, this design would work well with many variegated yarns, too.

The Feuilles de Vert socks use a simple lace motif to create the appearance of a thick canopy of leaves tapering to a point on the heel flap and beginning of the instep. There is also a small lace leaf at the toe of the sock for a little something special. The pattern is written as a top down sock.

The Chains of Love Socks are written up in three women’s sizes -- S, M, and L. The pattern uses a twisted stitch motif to create heart shaped chains down the cuffs of the leg. The subtle color variations of the Indigo Moon yarn (http://www.indigomoonyarns.com) adds nice depth to the sock.
Knitting: Cardigan
The Myrtille Cardigan designed by Debbie O’Neill of Nutty Creations is a versatile addition to any wardrobe. The Bellflower Rib pattern gives shape to the body with little effort. The hems and simple trim along the front openings leave the lines of the sweater clean and simple. With 3/4-length sleeves, Myrtille provides just the right amou...

I experimented with several stitch motifs in this yarn and wasn’t happy with any of them. I kept coming back to the ribbing I planned to use on the cuff of the sock and thinking that I really liked the way it looked. It finally dawned on me that sometimes simple is best.
Knitting: Tee
Piuma Grigia is the ultimate tee. Knit in luxurious cashmere, it is soft, snuggly, and a treat to make. The tee looks great worn on its own or paired with a favorite shirt. The dart shaping and lace panel make it a perfect compliment to a skirt or slacks, but we love it with jeans, too.

Knitting: Mid-calf Socks
This pattern is sized in 3 women’s sizes -- small, medium, and large. The Fibranatura Yummy is a heavy fingering weight yarn. It would be easy to get an “in between” size by using a lighter weight fingering yarn or a sport weight yarn at the appropriate gauge.
