Knitting: Ankle Sock
Da...
Knitting: Pullover
A friend is unexpectedly becoming a father again. So, I’m quickly knitting a kimono sweater for little Kiara from my stash of yarn. To make the effort worthwhile, I made the sweater in size 86, so it will fit the child, born in August, in her second fall. The piece also has the child’s name on the front, making the gift truly personal.
Knitting: Ankle Sock
Knitting: Pullover
Knitting is a passion that lasts a lifetime. Yarn and knitting needles have been by my side for more than 50 years. That is why I want to knit a luxurious jumper for myself as proof of my everlasting love for knitting – and also kind of for the anniversary. (You can also knit it for any other everlasting love of course.)
Knitting: Scarf
You’ve probably experienced this before: Your yarn stash is overflowing from every drawer, and it’s confirmed: knitting and yarn shopping are different hobbies! While organizing my yarn, I noticed two balls of wool, one in blue and one in light, that I wanted to use up. Ideally, I’d do it casually while watching my favorite TV show, therfore it...
Knitting: Scarf
Because they are so beautiful, I always look out for Calçada Portuguesa (Portuguese pavement) on trips to Portuguese places I have never been before. This one I found online sadly without specific indication on where to find it in real life, it was just said “on the Acores”. That is why I have called it “mysterious flowers”.
Knitting: Scarf
Ponta Delgada, the capital of the Azores, is home to another Portuguese pavement pattern, which inspired this loop. The cheerful green yarn caught my eye from my stash and is used to bring a touch of spring cheer into the winter. It’s lovely that the silk yarn is super soft, and the small pattern reminds me of our first trip as a couple more th...
Knitting: Scarf
I still had a ball of yarn left over from my spring-fresh loop. So, I made a small triangular shawl with the cheerful pattern of the Portuguese pavement in Ponta Delgada, the capital of the Azores. The silk content makes it very soft and drapes beautifully around the neck. Have fun knitting it!
Knitting: Dress
Our granddaughter will soon be a big sister! She’s longed for a “really colorful sweater” from Grandma. This is how I fulfilled that wish. There was even enough yarn for a little dress.

The first day of school is an important step in life. So many things to learn for such a small person! The world becomes totally different once letters start forming into words with sense. I think everyone who has been to a country with a different alphabet can relate.
Knitting: Ankle Sock
Sometimes, you just want to relax while knitting and still produce something pretty. This is especially easy with (sock)yarns, that create a pattern “all by themselves” with their colour gradient. I still had one of those yarns lying around and decided to make it into socks.
Knitting: Baby Blanket
Grandchild number 2 is on the way! Of course, this baby also gets their own blanket. I wanted to be able to do this project basically on the side – so I am knitting four strips of 30 cm in wide each with a beautiful colour gradient in stockinette stitch while I watch TV in the evening. The finished strips will be connected using the kitchener s...
Knitting: Pillow / Cushion
Recently, we got a green recamare as a small guest bed. So far, it looks a bit boring so I knitted a new cover for the last old cushion. When I retired, I got a gift card for a wool shop as a goodbye present from my colleagues – which I used for this project. Now, the happy circles on this cushion remind me of the kind people who gave me the gi...
Knitting: Rug
Knitting: Coat / Jacket
Suddenly, a gas-powered bus drives past us in Lisbon – and on its windows, the city’s sights are smiling at us, represented in a minimal way. I want to imitate this design and capture this moment in a knitted jacket. This way, I can wrap myself up in Lisbon…
Knitting: Pillow / Cushion
For our new apartment, I want to make cushions, and I looked for inspiration every-where.
Knitting: Pillow / Cushion
A new sofa means new cushions: After I finished one in herringbone stitch, I stumbled upon this very similar but quite rare pattern. I’m sure the two cushions will go together nicely.
Knitting: Rug
My cousin renovated her bathroom and asked for a small bath mat with a ginkgo pattern in white and grey. The mat should be thick and absorbent. For this, I used the Double Knitting Technique and a cotton ribbon yarn. Despite the doubled number of stitches because of the two usable sides, this can be knitted fairly quickly using a no. 8 needle. ...

Tentaçao – „Temptation“ is the name of this unusual yarn by the Portuguese manufacturer Rosarios 4.
Knitting: Bath Mitt
Everyone who wants to do their part in keeping the beautiful beaches all over the world clean can reduce their plastic use. One way to do so, is by using shampoo and bodywash bars instead the usual shampoos and shower gels in plastic bottles. Bars like these are becoming more and more popular in shops and often come in eco-friendly packaging ma...

Every knitter has experienced this: after you finish a project, you are left with wool because it is always a good idea to buy excess yarn to avoid having deviations in the colours. So I present you with an idea on how to turn cotton sock yarn into small and quickly done gifts. To personalise the glasses case, I have included some examples and ...

Portugal gave me the love of my life. That is why I will forever have a special bond with this beautiful country. It is a great pleasure to dedicate many of my knitting projects to it.Portugal is not only a particularly beautiful and welcoming country but also one of the oldest nation states in the world. Its history is reflected in the unmista...

I love lighthouses and thinking about the fact that they are the beacon that leads us home. Portugal has many faróis, as they are called here, in beautiful locations. My “home” lighthouse is at Cabo Espichel – a bright structure in the midst of a wild and romantic landscape. The tower itself is nothing special, I am more interested in the symbo...
