The Tramways Building in Montréal was the source of inspiration for these designs. The curvy patterns are so beautiful! I knew that Roositud work be perfect. Roositud is an Estonian technique for doing colorwork in the round on a small part of the garment, and it’s fully explained in the pattern. It typically uses a yarn that is slightly thicker than the main color of yarn being knit.

This modular blanket was inspired by looking at the patterns of black and white marble squares in the courtyard of Versailles. I wanted color, so I used a collection of 12 partial balls of Briar Rose Charity in light and dark colors. You can used 2 colors or as many as you like!

This nature-inspired mosaic shawl is only worked with one color at a time. The color shifts come from the sample using a mini-skein set plus a solid color. The dark & light reversal of colors means that it uses approximately the same amount of the dark and the light colors.

This top-down triangular shawl was inspired by the dazzling stained glass windows in the small church of Sainte Chapelle in Paris. The tall narrow windows dominate the richly-decorated chapel.

This 100% reversible pattern can be made as a cowl or a scarf. It’s easy knitting, because it’s mostly garter stitch. The pattern is made with stockinette stitch and reverse stockinette stitch triangles at regular intervals.

Marie Curie is the source of my inspiration. Born in Maria Salomea Skłodowska Poland, she was a brilliant pioneering scientist focused on radioactivity. The picture that I used as inspiration was taken for her 1903 Nobel Prize in Physics.

This shawl is a quick knit and includes a few fun techniques to keep your interest. There is a bit of lace, intermittent garter stitch stripes, and a border that can either be done in stranded knitting or double knitting.

I came up with this simple twist on seed stitch using some slipped stitches when looking for a fun way work with a gradient set. I wanted the colors to almost melt into each other.

This shawl was inspired by the carvings found on stones in the Neolithic tomb on the island of Gavrinis in the Gulf of Morbihan in Brittany, France. These detailed carvings reminded me of fingerprints. I knit the motif described as a “shield”.
