The Annalee hat was designed and named for my younger sister as a birthday gift. After having immediately stolen one of my previous beret designs and deemed it to be her “happy hat” and performance hat of choice, it was time for a new addition to her wardrobe.

Knitting: Beanie, Toque
Design Inspiration: When working on a new design I tend to let the yarn tell me what it wants to be. On the particular day that Interlude was created the yarn had a little help from the music. I sat, fresh skein of yarn and needles in hand. The yarn was beautiful and felt comforting in my hands. Next to me, my boyfriend sat playing an improvised...

The names of many modern musical modes are the same as those used in ancient Greece, however, the series of notes or intervals are different today. Ionian is a musical mode named by Heinrich Glarean in 1547. It’s often the first mode most of us will learn and is the most familiar in Western music. Ionian is a major scale with 8 notes. The formul...
Knitting: Cape
Little Whiskey is not quite a shawl and not quite a poncho. This capelet design will keep your shoulders warm and stay securely in place (thanks to the buttons) all while allowing your arms their full range of movement. It’s a dainty little covering with substance that can be worn year-round. Don it on cool summer nights over a sundress or camis...
Knitting: Beanie, Toque
My lack of decision making skills works in your benefit for this pattern. I charted the bird and immediately knew I wanted to fill in the open space with hearts to name the design Love Birds. However, what type of hearts and how many was just too much for my brain to handle. In the end I did a super slouchy version with one set of hearts and a s...

Knitting: Cowl
Sometimes, as much as you might want to try and force something to work, you just have to sit back and let it go. Learning to let hand dyed yarns work for you can be a challenge, both for a designer and for a knitter eager to make something beautiful. Typically the best thing to do is use simple stitches and let the yarn do the rest of the work....
Knitting: Sleeveless Top
This tank top was designed as part of the Knit Picks Independent Design Program.
Knitting: Fingerless Gloves
Presto! These mitts will practically fly off the needles. Knit them in your favorite colors, seasonal colors, team colors….. you get the idea. Since they work up so fast you can make several pairs, which make them a great pattern choice for last minute gifts.
Knitting: Sleeveless Top
This sweet little design is a relatively quick knit. It uses both techniques for knitting in the round and knitting flat and when you’re done…. very little sewing! Only a few inches on the top shoulder seams and a few tiny buttons. (If you should so feel inclined you may remove even this little bit by working a 3-needle bind off on t...

I love slouch hats. I think they’re flattering on nearly everyone no matter what type of hairstyle or face shape they have. Plus they’re also just plain fun to knit. However, I do have one complaint with this style of hat. Sometimes it seems there is just too much bunched up material sagging at the back of your head. From the front this appearan...
Knitting: Beanie, Toque
Semi Sweet (semi-slouch) Hat is the second pattern from the Sweet Treats Collection.
Knitting: Cardigan
The Shady Grove cardigan is an a-line style garment whose shape will fit and flatter any body type. 3 buttons fasten the upper bodice leaving the lower half of the cardigan free to swing open, which means no pulling fabric across the stomach and drawing attention to the area. Because this sweater is of top-down construction there is very minimal...

Knitting: Beanie, Toque
The Shake the Barley Hat falls somewhere between winter cap and beret. It’s not quite either, but has elements of both to make it appealing. There’s the comfortable turned up brim of a classic cap to add warmth around the ears and the semi-slouch, floppy top reminiscent of a beret, or rasta style hat. Both sizes are written with the same number ...

Knitting: Beanie, Toque
This pattern is the final pattern for the middle (sport to worsted) section of the Pick Your Poison collection.
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
The Remedy shawl is a sideways shawl. This means stitches are first increased as you go along one edge until you reach the halfway point and then decreases are worked along the same side. The two main benefits of a sideways shawl are that there are never too many stitches on the needle and once and that they can easily be resized. There are note...

Yardage: 1 skein each of Knit Picks Chroma Fingering in the MC and CC will allow you to make 2 adult sized hats.
Knitting: Ankle Sock
These simple little anklets were designed as a gift for my Mom. One of her favorite things is handknit socks, so what could be better than a pair designed just for her? I focused on elements that would appeal to her: thick yarn for maximum cushy comfort and subtle feminine details like the scalloped ankle and decorative ties.
Knitting: Fingerless Gloves
The Allegro sleeves are worked flat and then seamed along the top portion of the hand and arm. Basic stitches and a beautiful yarn get the job done nicely.
Knitting: Fingerless Gloves
The Comfort Zone mitts were designed for my boyfriend’s grandma. She has trouble with her hands, so gloves and mitts are an every day necessity. This pair is casual and laid back and perfect for use on a daily basis.

This scarflette, with it’s waving lacework and ribbons, is a perfect embodiment of one those dreams. My intention when designing Liza Rose was to encourage the wearer to feel immersed in their own romantic daydream. Knit it, wear it, ...
