I love dogs of all sizes and volunteer at a dog rescue. This hat features two small dogs. The first is the much loved Corgi (the Queen’s Dog) with short legs, big ears and a big heart. The Bonus Hat is the Shih Tzu, or the Shih Poo (Poodle / Shih Tzu mix). I always think of these small fluffy pups as Mop Dogs. Always happy and great cuddlers.

Vyshyvanka shirts are rich examples of Ukrainian embroidery. The traditional motifs and colors chosen vary by area of the country and have had a renaissance among the younger generation in Ukraine. It can tell the story of the wearer and protect the wearer from harm. It seems appropriate to adapt some of these motifs to knitting.

While creating a trilogy of patterns to raise money for Ukraine in February of 2022, I discovered Vyshyvanka embroidery. A Ukranian tradition of embroidering shirts and other clothing articles, the motifs are amazing. I have decided to make a few more pieces using these motifs. I have adapted a star motif to form a heart.

A Neck Gaiter is useful for skiers, snowshoers, hikers, workers & walkers or anyone outside in winter cold. Anchors Aweigh Ski Cap is a warm, pom pom topped hat with a nautical feel. Growing up by the ocean make fish, crabs, lobsters, anchors and waves part of my summers and winters. This is a stranded cap knit in the round with lots of options. Make it as a skull cap, no pom pom or earflaps; make it as a skull cap with pom pom only; make it as shown...
Knitting: Beanie, Toque
A sweet, slightly tall hat, knit in the round, for an infant, (3-12 months); toddler (9-18 months); or small child (12 months to 3 years). Sport weight yarn is used for this fun hat.

I used to knit for a historical reenactment group in Rhode Island. The Liberty Cap was worn (mostly by men!) during the revolutionary war period. It was almost always knit in Navy Blue wool with no decoration, other than the tassel on the end. This is a doll sized version. Enjoy!
