What is more iconic for Valentine’s Day than Roses and Chocolates? In the Texas Hill Country where I live there is this gutsy little native Texas wildflower, the Rock Daisy, that grows up through piles of rocks, or up through cracks in the exposed limestone. Imagine if we could all be this fearless and persistent!
Crochet: Coaster
When I am designing, I crochet a lot of mini scarves and shawls while figuring out ideas and stitch patterns. Recently, I crocheted a mini shawl as part of my design process and it dawned on me that it would make a great coaster. So, I used a very easy stitch pattern and wrote the pattern so you could use any yarn weight.

I try avoid naming my patterns according to the yarn colors I use, but I made an exception for this shawl. I used Knit Picks Twill Fingering in the colors Sea Salt Heather and Rose Water Heather. I kept thinking Sea Salt and Roses, that sounds really pretty and kind of beachy with a romantic vibe. So that’s how this name came to be!
